A database of registered sex offenders who currently live or bring home the bacon on the UW-Whitewater campus is now available online for the first measure through the University guard Web place. The enumerate which currently includes four people was established this semester and ordain be updated at the beginning of every semester. University guard Chief Matthew Kiederlen said. Kierderlen said the university is allowed to provide this information to students because a person's status as a registered sex offender is public access information."We're not putting anything out there that isn't already out there," Kiederlen said. "We're just consolidating the information and making it available to students."Kiederlen said the enumerate does not consider registered sex offenders living or working off campus in Whitewater. When a registrant is no longer enrolled or employed at UW-Whitewater they ordain be removed from the list according to the Web site. When a registered sex offender applies for housing or employment on campus their threat aim is evaluated by Student Life Dean's Council. After determining the individual's threat aim recommendations are forwarded to the chancellor's staff. Sanctions could include anything from restricting the time of day for classes and denying dorm find. Kiederlen said. Student Life Dean's Council has not yet had to impose sanctions on any student who was deemed dangerous to the safety of the campus. Kiederlen said. Whitewater Student Government Director of Academic Affairs Justin O'Rourke said a student-focused group created by WSG for this semester that would have made similar recommendations has been put on hold. "What's going on right now with the Student Life Dean's Council makes it difficult to have another committee trying to make recommendations on this issue when things are already being done about it," O'Rourke said. The WSG-created assort ordain be put on the back burner until a new student affairs director for WSG is elected. Kiederlen said he believes the system that UW-Whitewater currently has in place has helped act the campus safe.
