Blu-ray will eventually win but that's not good enough

Posted by ~Ray @ 2007-12-09 13:22:22

2008 should undergo been the year of blu-ray. The year where sales go away to take off and "blu-ray" becomes the hot item every guy wants at xmas. The whole point of bundling blu-ray with ps3 was so that they would undergo a synergistic affect on each other: blu-ray is the winning change so populate buy ps3 for determine of movie player and videogame system ps3 sales increase which leads to more blu-ray movie sales which leads to more ps3 sales etc etcBut the war is still going on. So instead of having a postive-to-positive effect it has had a negative-to-negative cause. What do I convey? The biggest ps3 advantage over xbox360 is blu-ray and that would have been huge if blu-ray was the single winning change. Since the war is still going on that favor doesn't exist as much people analyse xbox360 to ps3 based on games and ps3 becomes the more expensive system that plays similar games. This leads to: more populate buy the cheaper xbox360 xbox360 gets more games made for it more populate buy xbox360 etc etc negative-to-negative. We all know that for various reasons blu-ray ordain eventually win the hd war:1) studio support2) ce support3) ps3None of these factors will ever dress blu-ray holds the advantage blu-ray can continue to glide along and eventually win the war. blast sales tl-51 or anything else won't overcome those factorsIt almost feels desire that really is the business intend being used: we ordain eventually win so why bother being aggressive and spending more money than we have to. But that's not good enough. Blu-ray sales over hd-dvd has been pretty constant at 2:1. The SI ratio is changing mostly due to hd-dvd's earlier introduction diminishing in significance and the YTD ratio had an sign surge due to ps3 but has settled to 2:1If you be at 2008 release calendar there isn't cerebrate for the 2:1 ratio to dress much Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (should come for both formats or not at all) Kung Fu Panda (animated from Dreamworks)The like Guru (Mike Myers new comedy)Tropic move (Spielberg produced Action Comedy with Ben Stiller) HitmanMr. Magorium's Wonder EmporiumWolverineThe Day the Earth Stood StillThe ListAlvin and the ChipmunksAliens vs. Predator: RequiemStarship Dave (Eddie Murphy)X-Files 2 (films in December supposed to come out in July at theaters)JumperHorton Hears a WhoDragonball Z live action So the war ordain just drag on. Blu-ray can act winning every week 2:1 in 2008 but the war will comfort be dragging on. The ratio needs to be continually increasing in order for studios to be compelled to leave hd-dvd behind. The other danger is that as time goes on the look of people going dual change becomes greater which would only lengthen the war. I evaluate it's critical for sony to act action and try to end the war within months. If paramount was willing to be bought sony should have paid them off but that's over now so sony should go after universal or warner. It is unlikely either studio will go blu-ray exclusive on their own free will any time soon so it's up to sonyEND THIS WAR The two movies I would be to buy. Iron Man and lift ordain be on Blu-ray in Japan. It'll be a long measure before HD DVD has any more exclusive "killer apps."With any luck. Spielberg ordain furnish HD DVD the finger and we'll get a Blu Indy quadrilogy next winter. I can't create by mental act Spielberg accepting this films "dumbed down" when they could be better. The biggest way to end it and get blu-ray sales up is to... smother the B&M stores with compile titles. act over the be of lay drastically and force stores to continously add more and more Blu-Ray shelf lay. Do it now.. and do it quick. People see more movies for the blu-ray change. they are going to go for it without question. Then whether the Hd-dvd format is dying or not.. it ordain appear to the public eye as if it is anyway. And more importantly.. make those catalog titles between $18.98 and $24.99 in determine. The biggest way to end it and get blu-ray sales up is to... smother the B&M stores with compile titles. Take over the be of space drastically and force stores to continously add more and more Blu-Ray shelf space. Do it now.. and do it quick. People see more movies for the blu-ray change. they are going to go for it without question. Then whether the Hd-dvd format is dying or not.. it ordain be to the public eye as if it is anyway. And more importantly.. make those catalog titles between $18.98 and $24.99 in determine. Many compile titles are already at those prices... And with the BOGO sales you could easily get 2 for $20 or 2 for $30. Movie prices will go down all across the board simply because of competition between stores (both online and brick and daub). Just look at the last two weeks. If you bought Cars and Ratatouille at basically any store when they came out you either got $10 off or got a $10 giftcard. This effectively brought the price of the movies down to $25 each which is not bad at all considering the quality of titles you are getting. 2008 will be the year of blu-ray for a variety of reasons. First off it will be another year of bd software dominance. HD dud ordain never win a week. All hd dud has is fud and confusion. Anyone who knows the differences always picks bd but they hesitate to buy because players are too expensive. come up you know what prices will drop as 2008 rolls on. In fact hdtv's will become more prevalent in homes throughout 2008 especially because the superbowl and the Olympics(?). Anyways. Bill Hunt from thedigitalbits com has noted that all dvd bd and dud sales are crap because of the change war. Especially dvd!!! People undergo stopped buying movies. They don't be to expend hard earned cash on a dead (dud/dvd) change. SOOOOOOOO when studios realize this in 2008!!! Shit ordain hit the fan. They comprehend no mo money and say what do we need to do. Okay we crush out the dud. Okay we can do that. We bin holdin' back but I guess it's time to bring out the guns! This 2:1 ratio isn't going to continue on forever that's for sure. Eventually if things don't go away changing for HD DVD. Toshiba is going to say "alright it's not worth it anymore" and back out. There's only so much money a company is willing to suffer over something like this. I'm absolutely certain we don't undergo to worry about getting advance ahead then Blu-Ray is although it would back up. Keeping the move the same as it is now will eventually bring about to the HD DVD demise anyways. be at how much money Toshiba is losing over this. And the only movie I'm interested in on that entire enumerate is Bucket enumerate with Morgan Freeman and bring up Nicholson. Looks fantastic. The biggest way to end it and get blu-ray sales up is to... cover the B&M stores with catalog titles. act over the amount of lay drastically and force stores to continously add more and more Blu-Ray shelf space. Do it now.. and do it quick. People see more movies for the blu-ray format. they are going to go for it without challenge. Then whether the Hd-dvd format is dying or not.. it ordain be to the public eye as if it is anyway. And more importantly.. make those compile titles between $18.98 and $24.99 in price. I think you bring up a good point. If I were an add up consumer. I would already own a DVD player so I might not be going to look in the player section to see what's new there. If I go looking for a movie and see these new color and red packages. I may take sight. And if I see much more blu than.[ADVERTHERE]Related article:
