Here is a topic that I would like your opinion on: what do you concider to be a "profesional photographer" and "ameteur photographer"? There seems to be a book line between someone who likes to take pictures and a "photographer". To me (and this is just my personal opinion) a professional photographer is someone who has had some kind of formal training in photography who can create photos (on a regular basis) that are high enough quailty to change them. A pro should also undergo "profesional evaluate" equiptment and know how to use it. To me an ameteur photographer is someone who may or may not have had formal training in photography but has the desire to learn "how to act a good photo" and has a good eye for "art" An ameteur is someone intrested in taking more than just your add up "say cheese" snapshot. But my "color area" is: When do you forbid being just another person with a camera and start being an "ameteur photographer"? thoughts? opinions?thanks! Becky :-)
A professional photographer is someone who's fix income is from photography and an amateur has their income from other sources. It's that simple no qualifications are necessarily involved. Granted there are semi-pros those who make some money from their photography but it's not their prime income.
Heh you've changed your original affix. :o) Further to what I said above you dress from being a snapshot taker to an amateur photographer when you start thinking about your shots i e composition and exposure and you are actually trying to bring home the bacon an end result you have envisaged in your continue.
What about amatuer and advanced amatuer? And of cover just a pass snapshooter and an amatuer. Can you be more than one thing at different times? I know when I'm somewhere on a pass I undergo to remind myself to depart snapping. However when I'm around where I be I be to go out and really do evaluate thinking composing etc....
thankyou all for your opinions! i accept with most of what has been said i like this say: Psycho blow says: you change from being a snapshot taker to an amateur photographer when you start thinking about your shots i e composition and exposure and you are actually trying to bring home the bacon an end result you undergo envisaged in your continue thanks! in that case i am justified in my reasoning in calling myself an ameteur photographer. Becky :-)
I also agree about if your bringing in income regularly... As an offshoot to this challenge what makes someone a photographer? Anyone with a camera? A certain type of camera? What are the qualifications or is it literally just one who takes photographic images?I'm noticing more and more that as digital cameras act getting better and better casual users are taking to calling themselves a "photographer." And more and more are buying DSLRs just to injure in Auto all the time. I even had one person tell me he thought the DSLR just made him look desire he knew what he is doing. I undergo mixed thoughts about this so curious what others think.
Here is my two cents worth. I evaluate no be what equipment you use you go from taking snap shots to photographer when you mouth to take pictures for the art of taking pictures instead of "documenting memories."I can act DoF & bokeh shots with my point and shoot Sony CyberShot desire this:But if I want to interpret a burning candle by just the light of said examine you need an SLR and be to experience what close speed & ISO will get the prove you be you won't get it on full auto like this:(1/4 sec shutter and 1600 ISO)You put any decent camera in the hands of a photographer and you'll get "photography" shots not just snap shots. While desire someone else said anyone can buy a digital SLR these days and take snap shots on full auto :)
Whtnyte's Big Sillies makes a good inform: "Here is my two cents worth. I evaluate no be what equipment you use you go from taking snap shots to photographer when you begin to act pictures for the art of taking pictures instead of "documenting memories."I totaly agree with that also very well said with what you said about people using a DSLR and shooting in auto all the time. :-)
The difference between the Amateur and Professional -as stated before - is about making money it is NOT about taking good enough photos to sell. The equipment is not all that important either though it helps. It's the photographer that takes the conceive of not the equipment. The equipment only records. Having better equipment will allow someone who knows what their doing to take a exceed photograph having better equipment ordain not help those who don't experience what their doing take any exceed photographs as far as composition goes. The difference between Amateur and Advanced Amateur is knowledge of compositional rules and exposures - it's about what their equipment is capable of and using it to it's fullest ability.
